Pesach is a busy time, so while you are busy clearing away the Chamatz, get some space and send your kids to EDRS’ Pesach Play Scheme.
Application forms are now available and spaces are limited.

Forthcoming visit from Emanu-El - We have four people, including two youth leaders from Emanu-El, Odessa visiting EDRS in June 2012 with a view to strengthening our communal ties and learning about EDRS now, how it developed so that they can where appropriate put into practice what they have observed.

All in the educational day...
.. of the Life of EDRS
We regularly welcome non-Jewish schools visiting to learn about what a synagogue is and what happens here, plus our festivals. We always give them a very interactive presentation with refreshments. Apart from educating the children and adults about the many activities that happen in a synagogue, it is great PR, as they always leave full of enthusiasm, having thoroughly enjoyed their visit.

The Gates of Truth
We have a new sign above the front doors of our synagogue. It has the name of our congregation on it, Kehillah Kedosha Shaarei Emet which means “The Holy Congregation: The Gates of Truth.” The name suggests that when you go through these gates you can find something real and true.
Also the designers have written our house number on the sign – twice. It says “118 . . . 118.” I am not sure why they put it twice. Perhaps it suggests that at this number you will find answers to your questions and solutions to your problems?

Schmoozing with the Rabbis We have started again with the ever popular schmoozes onMondays 6 & 27 February, and 19 March10.30am until 12.15pm
The Way Back Home
During the High Holydays we sing the Untenaeh Tokef, a medieval hymn which declares, “The shofar sounds its great calls and a still small voice is heard, announcing with fear and trembling: “Behold the day of judgement.”
Tots Shabbat Club
Tots Shabbat Club for ages 0-5 years
We sing lots of songs with actions for the children to join in. There is a procession with the Sefer Torah. There is always a story. We finish with a Kiddush. Come and join us!
The EDRS Youth Centre offers young people a chance to socialise, relax and take part in a huge range of activities. Clubs begin with free time where your child/ren can play football, Air hockey, Badminton and more, followed by a prepared activity including arts, drama, quizzes and sports.
